1883 – Vienna – 1963

 

Painter, graphic work, artisan. After attending the "Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt", Zülow studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna with Myrbach, Stark and Czeschka as his teachers. From 1908 on, he was a member of the Klimt group. He designed for the Wiener Werkstätte and worked as a professor of ceramics at the "Keramische Lehrwerkstätte in Gmunden". Franz von Zülow took part in the International Exhibition of Arts in Rome, in several exhibitions at the Austrian Museum for Arts and Industries (today's MAK) and won the golden medal at the Exhibition of Arts and Crafts in Paris 1925. He was honoured four times with the Austrian Federal Award.
